Government is considering banning PUBG in India | PUBG ban in India?

The government may soon ban PlayerUnknown's Battleground (PUBG) in India. A month after the Indian government banned 59 Chinese apps, reports suggesting a ban on 275 apps have started online, citing popular data security concerns such as TikTok, UC Browser.

The government on Monday banned 47 more Chinese apps that were clones of previously banned apps. Among these include Tiktok Lite, Halo Light, Sharelight Light, Bigo Light and VFY Lite, all reportedly unavailable on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. While not a part of the PUBG list, it is called under the scanner.

PUBG is one of the most popular smartphone mobile games in India and many other countries. In India alone, the app boasts over 175 million downloads.

PUBG is developed by a South Korean video game company called Bluehole. However, the Chinese multinational conglomerate Tencent holds a considerable stake in the popular game.
The government is considering a ban on the battle royale format game over data security concerns. Several apps are recent on the radar due to alleged data-sharing practices with the Chinese government.

PUBG has been the subject of heavy criticism many times in the past but for a different reason. After receiving numerous complaints from parents and guardians, some state governments across the nation imposed a temporary ban on gaming apps for their addictive nature, which had a psychological effect on players, especially youth.

PUBG ban in India?

After banning around 59 apps like TikTok and UC Browser, the government today banned 47 apps of Chinese origin in the country. The restricted list contains cloned versions of previously restricted apps. According to news agency ANI, the list includes Tiktok Light, Halo Light, Sharelight Light, BIGO Live Light and VFY Light.

The move comes after the Indian government announced that they would investigate over 200 apps for violations of national security and user privacy, and if a violation was found, they would likely ban these apps.

According to reports, the list includes the gaming app PlayerUnogn's Battlegrounds aka PUBG. The announcement discouraged many fans of mobile games as all gamers in India breathed a sigh of relief as the game was not on the previous list of 59 apps. However, today, fans of the increasingly popular multiplayer game became aware of the news that they had been doing all this for a while.

To deal with the fact that the app could be banned in India, loyal fans of the application took to social media to express their feelings with rib-tickling memes. And we have to say that some of them are very hilarious.

From expressing what parents should feel right now to representing the exact feelings of gamers, PUBG fans did a wonderful job.
